![]() And to be clear, the scalping that grey market sellers engage in is no different to the scalping that everyone selling used Rolexes engages in, the only difference is that grey market sellers are making the situation noticeably worse by using their buying power to hoover up stock from AD's etc and then sell it back to what would otherwise be the customers of the AD's looking to buy a watch at MSRP. ![]() No, grey market sellers are just opportunists who have established a reputable business and who have absolutely no scruples about engaging in what can only be described as scalping during times where supply and demand as as slewed as it is today. I always laugh to see people praising Grey Market sellers on Rolexforums, as though tjhe grey sellers are being done a favour by being sold watches at scalper prices. Your anger should be only directed at vast number of people like yourself - the hoards of new comers to the brand who collectively have skyrocketed demand, resulting in increased market value. The vast majority of their stock isn’t bought at RRP. The secondary market dealer isn’t making 2-3x on these watches. Many potential Rolex customers (myself included) don’t have the knowledge to determine authenticity, so are much more comfortable buying from established secondary market dealers if unable to buy from the AD. If you don’t want to pay the secondary market retailer mark up, you can find watches for sale directly from individuals (flippers) at a lower price, as they don’t provide the same security, product verification, payment platforms, etc. That income is for providing a market and platform for secure transactions. ![]() The income they generate is $1-2k on standard SS models (OP, DJ, Subs). The large secondary market dealers buy inventory from the general public (flippers) at 10-15% less than market price. You fundamentally don’t understand how transactions work in the secondary market. Not a flipper, didn’t buy from a flipper. Sidebar photo idea courtesy of /u/omega703 If you're looking to buy a Rolex online, try this list of well-known sellers.
